Application & Admission

If you would like to apply as an exchange student, you need to give a short notice to the International Office of the ISM as well as the International Office of your home institution, so that we can jointly organize your exchange semester with us. Please use the downloadable application form and fill in your personal data and requests. The ISM has two intakes per year: One in March and one in September. The application deadline for the winter semester is the end of April, the deadline for the summer semester the end of November.

The ISM has the following language requirements for admitting international students:

• Students whose mother tongue is not English and who wish to enroll in English taught classes should ask a language instructor at their home institution to assess their English skills based on our university’s evaluation sheet for foreign language assessment which will be sent to the students upon request.
• Students who would like to participate in courses of the German Bachelor program must provide sufficient proof of their German language skills, certified at upper-intermediate level. International students who cannot provide the ISM with this proof are required to participate in a 3-week intensive German language course prior to semester start.
