Teaching Professional and Social Skills

Not only do ISM students acquire professional skills, but they also learn important teamwork, rhetorical, and intercultural competencies, as well as flexibility. Students are thus ideally prepared to take on management responsibilities at a company early in their careers.

A sound education which provides all the necessary professional knowledge is the basis for a successful career. However, social skills are growing in importance. According to a Trend-Barometer survey of top managers conducted by the ISM for RWE Systems, students who wish to become top managers should bring all the requisite soft skills with them. In order to prepare students for the working world, the education at the ISM is designed to meet these demands. Flexibility is a requirement for studying at the ISM. The willingness to pack one's bags and move is an integral component of the compact course of studies, as is the ability to become acclimatized to different cultures. Furthermore, rhetorical and teambuilding skills are not only taught theoretically, but are also applied in numerous classes. For example, students work in teams to come up with real solutions to business problems, and then present them to company representatives. Students are constantly challenged to take the initiative and get involved by participating in the ISM's rich offering of extracurricular activities.
