An International Education

The ISM offers its students a comprehensive international education. During the course of their studies, ISM students learn important professional, language, and intercultural skills. These skills form the foundation for the successful management of international business relations.

The international focus of the Diploma programs is also to be found in all Bachelor's and Master's programs, as well as in the Executive Development seminars of the ISM. Undergraduates spend one of their six semesters at one of our eighty international partner universities. Depending on their majors, they can choose between universities in European or in non-European countries. In addition to their study abroad semester, they also complete at least nine weeks of their eighteen-week internship period at a company outside of Germany. Besides taking Business English courses, students also take Spanish or French. Language courses are taught exclusively by native speakers. Students gain further training in their second foreign language by taking a language course outside of Germany.

The Master's programs also include a study abroad semester, during which students deepen their professional knowledge in an international context and exercise their intercultural competence. Depending on the partner university, the language of instruction can be English, French, or Spanish.

Like the Bachelor's and the Master's programs, the ISM's Executive Development classes have an international focus. Students in the MBA program take modules at the Business School of the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Many of the classes there are taught in English. The Master in Health Management is a fully English-language program. Students gain further language and intercultural skills during their third semester, which they spend at one of the ISM's international partner universities.
